Every Wednesday OTF publishes OTF Exchange,
a weekly e-mail newsletter exclusively for our members. OTF
Exchange features information about OTF-sponsored events,
job listings, member news, film festivals, seminars, and other
events of interest to members of the film and television industries.
It is through OTF Exchange that OTF offers the media
the unique opportunity to poll OTF members on their experiences
as LGBT professionals working in the industry. OTF Members
can review all past issues of OTF Exchange at the OTF
Exchange Archive.
Listings in OTF Exchange are free, and will be posted
in the next available issue provided they meet our editorial
guidelines. Submit listings to OTF Exchange to contact@outintvandfilm.org.
OTF regularly hosts cocktail networking events at various
locations in Los Angeles and New York City. Events draw 150
to 250 LGBT professionals from every film studio, television
network, and agency. Networking events are sometimes tied
in to release parties for gay-themed films or television series
or to screening parties for the Academy Awards.
OTF also sponsors special events, sometimes with other
organizations, offering OTF members the opportunity to attend
industry-related events for free or at a discounted admission
cost. Past events have included advance screenings of Paramount
and Miramax Films, OUTFEST screenings, sponsorship of In The
Life's Annual NY Party & Screening of The Academy Awards,
and our own LA Academy Awards party sponsored by The Advocate.
OTF's LA Pitchfest offers a presentation by industry
experts introducing the art of pitching, then gives members
the opportunity to present their story ideas to top production
executives, agents, managers, and producers. We've also offered
screenwriting seminars from Writers Boot Camp, various workshops,
and we plan to offer more programs in the future and develop
a mentoring program.
